Gabriella Poulos is a fiber artist whose installations address themes of place, community, and isolation in the context of historical American landscapes. Poulos’ quilts depict expansive landscapes, which feature barnes, farms, and fields. These quilts create a setting for her life size animal sculptures. Poulos’ use of natural, unprocessed wools and leftover, scrap fabrics, ties her own making practice directly to the history of necessary making. Poulos’s roots in communal making and co-operative working has given her a passion for sharing knowledge, which has been translated into communal projects and workshops.
